Hi, I’m Shobana

Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Serving Washington, Colorado & Wyoming

The people I work with are usually the ones who are good at holding it together, and exhausted by it. The high achievers. The empathetic ones. The person everyone leans on who has never quite learned to lean back.

They're often the one’s carrying self-doubt, old wounds, and the weight of always being the capable one. And they're ready, even if just a little, to finally put some of that down.

As an immigrant and woman of color, I understand what it means to navigate different worlds, expectations, and versions of yourself. I believe therapy should feel like exhaling. Like you can finally stop performing and just be.

My role isn't to fix you. It's to walk alongside you.

The Heart of My Work

Person wearing a white sweatshirt and white pants sitting at a table while writing in a notebook with a pen. There is a cup of black coffee on a saucer and a yellow flower on the table beside the cup.

Honestly? My path into this work began with a simple question. “Why am I the way I am?”

And somewhere along the way it became something much bigger. An ongoing curiosity about how profoundly we are shaped. By our childhoods and our cultures and identities. By systems of power, privilege, and race. By the worlds we were born into and the ones we had to learn to navigate.

I believe we are born worthy.

And yet, through the systems we navigated and the survival modes we had to master, we learned to forget that. Therapy, to me, is the process of remembering.

To sit with someone in their most tender moments. Their pain, their confusion, their joy. To be trusted with all of it and to bear witness to the parts of themselves they've never shown anyone. That is a privilege I hold with everything I have.

Outside of therapy you'll find me with a latte in one hand and my emotional support Kindle in the other, listening to Hozier year-round, and soaking up the quiet rhythms of life since becoming a mom.

Self-Worth & People-pleasing

Modalities & Approaches

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I draw from a range of evidence-based and depth-oriented modalities, thoughtfully tailored to you, your story, your needs, your pace.

What Therapy With Me Feels Like

Therapy is more than techniques or interventions.
It's a space to slow down, make sense of your experiences, reconnect with yourself and create meaningful change.

Reflective & Curious

We slow down enough to notice patterns, emotions, and experiences that often go unseen.

Collaborative & Authentic

We work together in a space where you don't have to perform, prove yourself, or pretend to have it all together.

Is This The Right Fit?

Therapy is deeply personal, and finding the right fit can make all the difference. Here’s a glimpse of who I work with and what you can expect from our work together.

Who I Work With

✦ Those who have learned to function through the hard things and are tired of just functioning.

✦ Those carrying the weight of experiences that were never fully processed, showing up in their bodies, their relationships, and the stories they tell about themselves.

✦ Those longing to feel more grounded, self-trusting, and emotionally at home within themselves.

✦ Couples who still care deeply about each other but keep getting caught in the same painful cycles.

✦ Those navigating questions of identity, culture, and belonging, and the complexity of living between worlds.

We Might Work Well Together If

✦ You're looking for more than symptom relief. You want to understand the patterns underneath.

✦ You're thoughtful and self-aware, but something still isn't clicking.

✦ You're ready to meet yourself with honesty and compassion, even the messy parts.

✦ You want more than a space to vent. You're looking for real tools, real shifts, and real change.

✦ You're looking for a therapist who brings both warmth and directness. Someone who will sit with you in the hard stuff and also gently push you forward.

The relationship between therapist and client matters. Whether we end up working together or not, my hope is that you find support that feels right for you.

Your Questions, Answered

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. These are some of the ones I hear most often.

  • Yes! I'm in-network with select insurance plans through Headway and Alma. Coverage varies by plan, so reach out and I'll help you figure out your benefits and eligibility.

  • Individual Therapy (55 minutes):$160 Couples Therapy (55 minutes): $200

I also accept insurance through Headway and Alma for those who qualify.

  • I currently offer secure telehealth sessions for clients in Washington, Colorado, and Wyoming. In-person sessions may also be available in Tacoma, Washington depending on availability.

  • Most clients start with weekly sessions to build consistency and momentum. As things progress, some transition to biweekly. It really depends on your goals and what feels right for you.

  • That's completely okay and more common than you think. You don't need to have it all figured out before reaching out. Our first few sessions are simply about getting to know each other and understanding what feels most important to explore together.

  • The first session is about building a foundation. We'll talk about what brought you here, what's been on your mind, and what you're hoping might feel different. There's no pressure to share everything at once. We go at your pace.

  • That uncertainty is completely valid! And honestly, it’s a great reason to start with a free consultation. It's just a conversation. No commitment, no pressure. Just a chance to see if this feels like the right fit.
